Wolves host SAIT in opening game of the Championships

In the first half of the ACAC Men's Soccer Championship between SAIT and NWP, the Trojans applied early pressure with #7 Ryusei Ito missing an open net just 1 minute and 30 seconds in. NWP responded with some chances, but SAIT broke through in the 15th minute when #14 Carter Hunter scored a header off a corner, assisted by #8 Fabian Nunez. Just three minutes later, SAIT doubled their lead with another header goal by #23 Veron Ghide, assisted by #16 Masataka Kajitani.

Despite being under pressure, NWP's goalkeeper #1 Evan Doerkson kept the Wolves in the game with multiple impressive saves, including a diving stop to deny #21 Senay Haile in the 42nd minute. The Wolves pushed forward late in the half but couldn't find the back of the net. At halftime, the Trojans led 2-0 over the Wolves.

 

In the second half of the ACAC Men's Soccer Championship, Wolves' goalkeeper Evan Doerkson made multiple saves, but the Trojans extended their lead at the 58th minute with a goal from #7 Ryusei Ito, assisted by #13 Logan Smolnicky, making it 3-0.

Ito scored again at the 68th minute, assisted by #16 Masataka Kajitani. The Wolves responded in the 70th minute with #7 Ivan Romanchuk netting a rebound after a saved penalty kick by #10 Pedro Schindler, closing the gap to 4-1. However, the Trojans quickly added a fifth goal, a header by #10 Aram Tesfaghioris, assisted by Kajitani in the 77th minute.

Final score: SAIT Trojans 5, NWP Wolves 1.
