Running Room Grand Prix Series Race #5

Camrose, AB - October 12, 2024

It was a gorgeous fall day in Camrose for the U of A, Augustana Vikings to host the fifth race in the Running Room Grand Prix series. With clear skies and little wind, runners were able to post low times on a challenging course consisting of six kilometres for the women's race and eight kilometres for the men's competitors. 

Women's Race

The women's 6k started the day and saw a ten-second difference in the top three ACAC racers. St. Mary's, Cadence Laplante placed first in the race with a time of 24:57. Meanwhile a sprint finish for Concordia's Ashlee Walker and SAIT's Kerigan Frampton saw a split-second difference in favour of Walker with times of 25:06 and 25:07.

The team results finished with the following:

  1. RDP - 32 Points
  2. LPK - 69 Points
  3. MHC - 73 Points
  4. CUE - 93 Points
  5. NWP - 111 Points
  6. UAA - 124 Points
  7. STMU - 124 Points

Men's Race

The men's 8k saw over 90 competitors on the gruelling course. SAIT's Nathan Woyessa finished the day in first place with an incredible time of 26:10. Rounding out the podium was Nait's Tyson Versteeg in 2nd with a time of 27:48, while Augustana's Reggie Williams took 3rd place with a time of 28:03.

The team results finished with the following:

  2. LPK - 39 Points
  3. NAIT - 54 Points
  4. RDP - 59 Points
  5. UAA - 69 Points
  6. CUE - 120 Points
  7. NWP - 128 Points
  8. TKU - 131 Points
  9. MHC - 141 Points

The ACAC Cross Country Championships will be hosted at St. Mary's University in Calgary, AB on October 26th, 2024.
