Grande Prairie, October 31st, 2016 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce the members of the Cross Country Running All-Conference Teams. Runners were selected by completing the Provincial Championship race with the top finishing times at the recent ACAC Cross Country Running Championship, hosted by GPRC October 29th, 2016.

The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference is pleased to announce that Kari Elliott, Head Coach of Red Deer College?s Cross-Country team, has been selected by her coaching peers as the 2016-17 Coach of the Year. The award was presented to Coach Elliott on October 29 at the ACAC Cross-Country Championship at Grand Prairie Regional College.

ACAC Cross Country Runner Kicks the Habit

by ACAC Sports Writer Curtis J. Phillips... It's an October afternoon in Northern Alberta and 29 runners' line up for a cross country meet in Grande Prairie. Amongst the many faces and laces. is a competitor who only a year prior had given up a pack-a-day cigarette habit. All of that has changed. Such is the life now of Ian Lee of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder cross country team, in that the 25 year-old placed fourth overall amongst the collegiate athletes in the above mentioned Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Running Room Grand Prix #4.
Kiana Scarf Making Strides at Lakeland College

by ACAC Sports Writer Curtis J. Phillips... On the Lakeland College Rustlers cross country roster it lists Kiana Scarf at 5-foot-4 in height. In reality, Scarf, is 5-foot-1. The extra inches might have been added due to the extra length and personal growth Scarf has had to travel during life’s journey. When Scarf was in Grade 5 her mother Michelle was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. “The doctors told her she had two years max to live...she beat the odds and made it to six,” said Scarf, her mother passing away May 11, 2014 at the age of 37 years.
