Women's Volleyball TKU Eagles v. LAKE Rustlers
On January 31, the King's University Eagles Women's volleyball team took on the Lakeland College Rustlers at The King's University gymnasium at 6:00 pm.
In the first set, the Rustlers dominated early, with Jenay Varga leading the charge with three kills. Avery Bates contributed one kill and one ace, while Lana Matthews added two kills. Raegen Nicol made her presence known with one block. For the Eagles, Emma Laybournne recorded one block and one kill, and Jolene Cooke had three kills. Despite solid performances from the Eagles, the Rustlers claimed the set 27-16.
In the second set, the Rustlers continued their strong play, with Emma Letkman adding one kill and Lana Matthews delivering two kills and two aces. Avery Bates was a standout with three kills, while Raegen Nicol tallied one block and two kills. The Eagles kept the pressure on, as Emma Bernardin led with three kills and a block, while Jolene Cooke had three kills of her own. Sydney Seida made a solid defensive impact with one block and one kill. In a close and thrilling finish, the Rustlers edged out the Eagles 27-25.
In the third set, the Rustlers close out the match with consistent offense. Avery Bates was outstanding, putting down five kills, and Jenay Varga added two kills. Lana Matthews had one set point, and Raegen Nicol contributed a kill. The Eagles kept fighting, with Brooke Risselada adding one ace and two kills, while Jolene Cooke and Sydney Seida each had two kills. However, the Rustlers held firm, securing the set 25-21 and completing the sweep.
