Women's Volleyball TKU Eagles v. NAIT Ooks

On January 17, the King's University Eagles Women's Volleyball team took on NAIT Polytechnic Ooks at The King's University gymnasium at 6:00 pm. 

 

In the first set, the opening set saw the Ooks deliver some strong plays, with Courtney Webber making an outstanding save, Maddie Smith scoring a great tip point, and Anna Atcheynum following up with a fantastic save and an ace. However, the Eagles maintained excellent communication and were led by Emma Laybourne, who contributed a brilliant ace and block. Jolene Cooke also impressed with a kill and block, while Leah Aukema added a kill and two blocks. Brook Risselada showcased her attacking prowess with three key kills, and Chenee Lehman made two important saves. The Eagles secured the first set 25-17.

 

In the second set, the Ooks fought hard but struggled to match the Eagles' offensive firepower. Courtney Webber again made a crucial save, and Lexi Gedny delivered a key ace for the Ooks. The Eagles, however, were in full control. Emma Laybourne continued her strong play with two tip points, a block, and a save. Risselada added another ace and a kill, while Jolene Cooke contributed a solid kill. Ashley Lockwood had three important kills, and Sydney Seida impressed with a kill and two aces. Leah Aukema also contributed a kill to help the Eagles cruise to a 25-15 victory.

 

In the third set, it was a tightly contested affair, with both teams displaying great communication and determination. The Ooks fought back, with Atcheynum delivering a strong kill and ace, Webber making a key save, and Rachel Mallett contributing an ace. Lexi Gedny had an outstanding run of five kills to keep the Ooks competitive. However, the Eagles' attack remained relentless, with Jolene Cooke firing off six great kills. Samantha Langdon added an ace, and Risselada continued her excellent performance with five kills. Lockwood chipped in with another kill, and Emma Laybourne contributed a key kill to close out the set 25-18, securing the match victory for the Eagles.
