Vikings falter to Eagles in Semi-Final

CAMROSE, AB – Entering the ACAC North Division Semi-Final as the higher seed, the Augustana Vikings season comes to an early end as the King's University Eagles win in straight sets, 3-0 (25-17, 25-18, 25-19), Sunday afternoon at Augustana Gym.

With the win, the Eagles advance to the ACAC Final Four next weekend along with the Briercrest Clippers, RDP Queens, and Lakeland Rustlers. Meanwhile, the Vikings season comes to an end.

Leading the Eagles to an upset victory was Lauren Kroetsch with 12 kills, with a kill percentage of .500, while adding six kills. Teammate while Jada Lea had 26 assists and four digs.

Across the court, Addi Wolosuk lead the Vikings with nine kills and Sarah Dedrick had 21 assists.

Not having any rust after play on Friday the Eagles came out firing looking to take control early and hitting an impressive .593 kill percentage and 16 kills in the opening set to ease to a 25-17 win.

Not letting off the gas it was all Eagles once again in the second set jumped out to a lead, not allowing the Vikings any breathing room and winning the set 25-18.

Hoping to keep their season alive the Vikings created long rallies and garnered some momentum points, but the Eagles were just too much for the banged-up Vikings, sweeping the game in three sets, 25-19.

Looking ahead the Eagles will travel to the ACAC Final Four Tournament next weekend.
