WVB | Kodiaks Clinch Playoff Birth

Feb. 9, 2018 – After a ten-year drought, the Lethbridge College Kodiaks women's volleyball team is back in the playoffs.
The team clinched their spot at the ACAC women's volleyball championships with a 3-0 straight sets win over the SAIT Trojans on Friday night, eliminating the Trojans in the process.
Lethbridge (11-10) last made the ACAC playoffs in 2008.
Kristine Ward and Jamie Brown led the Kodiaks offense all night, registering ten and nine kills respectively. Brown was especially dominant in the second set, where she had five kills, one ace and one block.
The Kodiaks rolled to a 25-18 win in set one, behind the strength of four kills from Laura Serafini. Lethbridge raced out to an early lead but let SAIT back in the match. Tied at 14, the Kodiaks went on a four-point run and closed out the set.
Brown's big second set helped the Kodiaks to a 25-18 win, but the Trojans gave Lethbridge a good run in the third.
Fighting to keep the game alive, SAIT carved out a 21-17 lead. Looking to close out the game, Lethbridge rallied to tie 22-22, then eeked out a tense 28-26 victory to secure the win. Ward stepped up her game to help the Kodiaks close it out, with seven kills and five digs in the stanza.
Taya Mikado was named Kodiaks player of the game with seven kills and six digs.
Simran Dhami was named Trojans player of the game with nine kills. Jayden Roch added seven digs for the Trojans.
The teams will be back at it tomorrow night for the rematch in Calgary. First-serve will be 6 p.m.
