NWP plays Red Deer evening game at Championships

In Game 4 of the ACAC Soccer Championships, the NWP Wolves faced off against the RDP Queens in a defensive battle. Early on, Queens pressured Wolves' goalie #1 Ashley Hodel, who made the first save of the game in the 2nd minute. A close call came in the 9th minute as Queens' #17 Kyra Remekie's header struck the crossbar, narrowly missing as it sat on the goal line before being cleared.
The Wolves mounted some pressure of their own in the 14th minute but couldn't convert on an odd-man rush. Hodel continued to shine, making key saves in the 19th and 21st minutes, denying shots from Queens' #14 McKenna Leslie and #9 Alisha Coules. However, the Queens broke through in the 37th minute with a goal by #10 Paige Kalbfleisch, assisted by Leslie off a corner kick.
The half ended with the Queens leading 1-0, as the Wolves looked to regroup for the second half.
In the second half, the RDP Queens continued to press, looking to extend their 1-0 lead. The Wolves countered with a rush in the 52nd minute but couldn't get a shot on target. A few minutes later, Wolves' goalie Ashley Hodel came up with a clutch save to keep it a one-goal game.
At the 55th minute, the Queens struck again off a corner kick as #15 Payton Erick scored, assisted by #14 McKenna Leslie. Hodel managed to get a hand on it, but the ball trickled past the goal line, putting the Queens up 2-0. The Wolves fought back, capitalizing on a 65th-minute corner kick as #11 Chantelle Kirk scored off a header, assisted by #10 Kendra Taylor, narrowing the score to 2-1.
The Queens responded quickly, scoring again in the 70th minute with a goal from #14 McKenna Leslie, assisted by #18 Kennedy Van Arragon, to reclaim their two-goal lead. The Wolves managed to generate chances, but Queens held strong, ending the game with a 3-1 victory.
