Ooks eyeing four-peat, beating Concordia 1-0 to clinch berth in Championship Final

OLDS- A first half goal from Kassy Jajczay was all the NAIT Ooks needed to earn their spot in the 2017 ACAC Women's Soccer Championship game, defeating Concordia University of Edmonton 1-0 on Saturday afternoon on Normie Kwong Field.

Jajczay's goal came just past the twenty minute mark of the contest, when teammate Marissa Webb delivered a beautiful cross that Jajczay finished off with a header.

That was the only goal All-Conference keeper Selina Verkland would allow, playing near perfect soccer the rest of the way for the Thunder.

However, the Ooks defense didn't allow any high quality scoring opportunities at the other end, clearing the ball out of their defensive end with precision and controlling the ball for the better part of the game.

The Thunder will have to settle for an opportunity at a bronze medal, as they take on the SAIT Trojans on Sunday afternoon at 12 P.M.

Meanwhile the Ooks will look to capture their fourth consecutive ACAC Women's Soccer Championship at 2 P.M on Sunday when they play the Grande Prairie Regional College Wolves.

The Ooks and the Wolves split their season series with one win a piece – and the rubber match is bound to be a competitive and exciting final.
