Running Room Grand Prix #1 - IT RECAP

Edmonton, AB - This weekend we kicked off the indoor track season, hosted by Concordia University of Edmonton at the Kinsmen Sport Centre, the event featured record-breaking performances, nail-biting finishes, and incredible displays of athleticism.
Women's Events
The women's division saw standout performances across multiple events. In the 50m sprint, Amy Fallows from SAIT and Eiley Morrison from Red Deer Polytechnic tied for first place, both clocking in at an ACAC-record-breaking 6.88 seconds. Isabel Vega of SAIT followed closely behind, earning third with 6.93 seconds.
Fallows continued her dominance in the 300m, securing another gold with a time of 43.21 seconds, while Ashlee Walker of Concordia claimed silver in 44.17 seconds. The 600m race saw SAIT's Kerigan Frampton take the top spot, finishing in 1:42.17, followed by Cadence Laplante of St. Mary's University.
In distance events, Madison Scrimger from Medicine Hat College was unstoppable, winning 1500m and 3000m at 5:18.98 and 11:07.48, respectively.
Relay events were highly competitive, with Red Deer Polytechnic taking gold in the 4x200m and 4x400m relays, showcasing their depth and teamwork.
Men's Events
The men's division featured exceptional performances from athletes across the ACAC. Domenico Marchese from Concordia dominated the sprints, winning gold in the 50m with a blazing time of 6.18 seconds, and tying for first in the 300m alongside Tyler Wiebe of Lethbridge Polytechnic, both finishing at 37.75 seconds.
The 600m event highlighted SAIT's Maximus Thiessen, who took gold at 1:27.71, narrowly defeating Lethbridge's Conner Van Den Hoek. In the 1500m, Lethbridge's Owen Stewart finished first in 4:15.21, while SAIT dominated the 3000m with a one-two finish from Nathan Woyessa and Moktar Said.
Relay events saw Lethbridge Polytechnic sweep both the 4x200m and 4x400m relays, showcasing their speed and synergy, with SAIT and Concordia rounding out the podiums.
The Thunder Open also featured thrilling wheelchair races, where Hunter Graves of Lethbridge Polytechnic set an ACAC record in the Mixed 300m Wheelchair race, finishing in 1:06.80. Graves also claimed gold in the Men's 50m Wheelchair event with a time of 12.57 seconds.
The Running Room Grand Prix #1 delivered excitement and inspiration, highlighting the exceptional talent within the ACAC. The event set the stage for an electrifying track season, from sprint showdowns to endurance battles and team relays.
