Trojans beat Broncos in 3

CALGARY, ALTA., (Oct. 25, 2019) - While the SAIT Trojans men's volleyball team won in straight sets Friday night, head coach Dallas Soonias was not all that impressed.

The Trojans hosted the Olds College Broncos in Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) action at SAIT's Campus Centre, and handed their guests a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-14) loss.

"I don't think we were in control of the match the whole way through. In fact, I really think until halfway in each of those sets, it could have gone either way," said Soonias, whose Trojans move to 3-1 on the season. "They have a lot of young and athletic talent over there. We also have talent, but we're starting to play undisciplined ball again. . . I'm not super happy about today."

Olds, who brought with them a loud and energetic crowd that made their presence known all night, fall to 0-1.

Jarett Noel (3rd year, Calgary, Geographic Information Systems) and Tyler Latu'ila (5th year, Auckland, New Zealand, Bachelor of Business Administration) each had nine kills in the win.

Ryzen Walkingbear led the Broncos with seven kills.

The teams will finish up their weekend set Saturday night back at SAIT at 8pm.

"Good teams that win a lot of games don't let off," Soonias replied when asked what his team can do differently on Saturday. "I'm not saying we let off tonight, but we sure didn't play our cleanest game."
