Defensive pressure kept the game close, but Eagles come out on top

EDMONTON, AB (October 16th, 2022) – The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder kicked the Sunday battle against the Kings' Eagles. A defensive battle throughout the entire game saw the Eagles manage to get the upper hand and come away with a 5-2 win.

Today was a fast-paced game, both teams were able to make deep attacks quickly, but the defensive recovery prevented scoring chances. Concordia playing very aggressive in the passing lanes, breaking up several of Kings midfield passes. Eagles broke through and put one on the board in the 26th minute, the goal scored by #12 Psalmuel Realon. At the end of the first half the Eagles were able to crank up the pressure with crossing passes. This led to congestion in front of the goalie, the size amongst their forwards really came out to shine. #20 Kieran Toussaint adds another to the sheet to make it 2-0 in the first half.

The second half grew in intensity. Both teams had several scoring chances and it led to 5 total goals. Kings was able to keep up the pressure and finish the game with a 5-2 lead. Concordia's woes with fouls continued as they racked up over 15 on the game.Overall, this was a hard fight game between two teams trying to finish this season strong. The Eagles came out on top with a 5-2 lead.

The One Team Sport Players of the game were #12 Psalmuel Realon for the Eagles and #17 Luke Drapala for the Thunder. Concordia returns home Saturday, October 22nd to close out the regular season.
