OLDS, Alta. - Diego Forno came through in the clutch for the Olds College Broncos, scoring twice in the final 10 minutes to lift Olds College to a 2-0 win over the Medicine Hat College Rattlers at Richardson Pioneer Field on Saturday.

Forno's efforts also earned him Player of the Game recognition for the Broncos (2-1-3), matched by Jaydon Kirkland for the Rattlers (0-4-3). In goal, Joao Batista made three saves for the clean sheet against his former side, while Ross Wilder countered with five saves for Medicine Hat.

The match was hotly contested from the opening kickoff with five yellow cards being issued over the course of the match, though nobody was sent off.

Olds College was knocking on the door for a significant chunk of the afternoon until Forno, who entered the match in the 40th minute, grabbed a loose ball at the top of the 18-yard box in the 83rd minute and fired on goal, only for it to go off a Medicine Hat defender and spiral past Wilder to give the Broncos the lead.

Forno would then ice the game at the start of added time, grabbing a rebound inside the six-yard box and again beating Wilder to put the Broncos up to stay.

With the victory, Olds College retains the final ACAC South playoff spot, where a win tomorrow over the Lethbridge College Kodiaks in Olds could put the Broncos in a three-way tie for second on 12 points.

Meanwhile, the Rattlers will head to Calgary tomorrow to do battle with the SAIT Trojans, who are currently eighth in the CCAA national rankings.
