The NAIT Ooks men's soccer team came out flying in their home-opener on Sunday, September 11th, at the St. Albert Soccer Association against The King's University Eagles. The Ooks won 2-0.
The Ooks came out strong in the first 5 minutes as Rodane Cato hit it home to give the Ooks a 1-0 lead. 2 minutes later, Matt Zima capitalized again to provide the Ooks with a 2-0 lead.
The King's Eagles came back strong, playing a more defensive game in an attempt to hold off the Ooks forwards. It worked as they kept the Ooks at bay for the rest of the half.
It was 2-0 NAIT after one.
It was a close battle in the second half. The Eagles weren't going down without a fight. Matt Zima got a yellow card 15 minutes into the second half, giving the Eagles a chance to break forward. Unfortunately, the NAIT Ooks defense held them out of their zone.
NAIT had a corner kick late in the second half, but the Eagle's defense stood firm and got it out quick. The back-and-forth battle was strong this game, with five amount of cards given. Ultimately the Ooks came out with a 2-0 lead.
