Red Deer Polytechnic Kings blank Lions

Red Deer, AB - On the strength of a three goal performance from forward Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto, the Red Deer Polytechnic Kings picked up a 10-0 win over the visiting Ambrose University Lions. 

In the 14th minute, Red Deer Polytechnic Kings first-year defender Wataru Oguchi opened the scoring.

Teammates Masoum Zaher and Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto added goals throughout the first half, putting the home team up 3-0.

Over the final 45 minutes, Kirk Moody, Isaiah Albright, Gabriel Fleury de Queiroz, Thomson Wellie, and Hayden Jacobs scored goals. Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto picked up a pair, helping the Kings seal a 10-0 decision. 

Pedro Humberto Mourao Neto was selected as the North Star Sports Kings Player of the Game. The third-year forward from Brazil led the Kings with three goals over 77 minutes.

Nathan Yeung earned the award for the Lions, playing a solid game on defence. Yeung, a first-year Biology student from Nanaimo, displayed a strong work ethic over 90 minutes of playing time.

Lions goalkeeper Dayton Mcleay made four saves. Jared St Thomas turned aside one shot in the Kings' net.

The Red Deer Polytechnic Kings (3-0-1) will host the SAIT Trojans (3-0-0) on Friday, October 8 at 4 pm. After that contest, the King will have one game remaining against the Medicine Hat College Rattlers (1-2-0).

On Sunday, October 3, the Ambrose University Lions (0-4-0) will challenge the Lethbridge College Kodiaks (2-2-0) in Calgary at 4 pm. The Lions and Kodiaks will also meet on October 10.
