Trojans beat up Kings in makeup game

CALGARY, ALTA., (Oct. 16, 2019) - On SAIT's Giving Day, the SAIT Trojans men's soccer team gave one heck of a performance.

The Trojans scored twice in the opening minutes en route to a 6-0 win over the visiting Red Deer College Kings in their Wednesday afternoon Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played at SAIT's Cohos Commons Field.

"For us to be peaking at the right time is important to us," said Trojans head coach Connor Brady. "I think we have figured out a few things, and we've figured out our best way to approach and prepare for a game as a team is."

SAIT moves to a South Division best 8-1-1 with the victory. Red Deer College falls to 6-3-1.

"We're really deep, and that allows us to use a lot of bodies," added Brady. "Our team is filled with positive attitudes and support for one another, and you're seeing that in our play of late."

The game was played on Wednesday, due to snow postponing the original date for it (Sept. 28).

Armando Garcia (3rd year, Edmonton, Alta., Bachelor of Business Administration) scored twice for the Trojans, lifting his goal total for the season to a team-best nine.

Also chipping in was Yusuph Kalenga (3rd year, Edmonton, Alta., English Language Foundations), Eduardo Filho (4th year, Paracatu, Brazil, Environmental Technology), Zach Michaud (1st year, Calgary, Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles) and Bradley Atherton (2nd year, Calgary, Bachelor of Business Administration).

SAIT will have a quick turnaround, as they will host the Ambrose University Lions on Friday in their second last game of the regular season. Game time begins at 4pm.
