MSOC | Kodiaks Caught at a Stand Still Tie With The Rattlers

MSOC | Kodiaks Caught at a Stand Still Tie With The Rattlers

Oct. 13, 2019 - The Lethbridge College Kodiaks were back in action against the Medicine Hat Rattlers over the Thanksgiving weekend on a chilly fall Sunday afternoon. Lethbridge left the field with an upsetting tie.

Easton Beaulieu was on offensive threat for Lethbridge throughout the entire 90 minutes as he picked up the Kodiaks only goal and created plenty of opportunity for more. Beaulieu was relentless in the attacking third for the Rattlers.

Kodiaks started the game off with a strong offensive line by immediately taking control of the ball, allowing Easton Beaulieu to dribble the ball past the Rattlers goal tender, getting an easy shot into the bottom of the net in the 3rd minute.

As the first half continued the Kodiaks dominated the Rattlers defensive end, not allowing them to take possession of the ball. The Rattlers fought hard to keep the ball out of their end, but the Kodiaks maintained control, taking shots every chance they got.

Both teams were unsuccessful getting another goal before the end of the second half. The Kodiaks took the lead going into second half with a score of 1-0.

As the second half got underway, both teams looked a little shaky. Lethbridge's midfielder Scooby Jetten fouled Medicine Hat's forward Abdou Raouf Mohamed in the Kodiaks 18 yard box. Abdou Raouf Mohamed took the penalty shot finding it's way into the bottom of the net, tying the game 1-1.

Intensity grew in the second half as both teams were looking to get ahead of their opponent. Jimmy Bukuru of Lethbridge was then fouled in the Rattlers penalty box where striker Owen Beers would find himself taking the PK. Unfortunately, Beers shot found the crossbar where it bounced out.

Fouls were consistently called the rest of the match for both teams as they each needed to find a goal, however neither team was successful resulting in a tie game.

The Lethbridge College Kodiaks now look to host their upcoming match on Tuesday, October 15th against the Ambrose Lions at 4:30pm.
