SAIT Defeats University of Albert 5-4 in Exciting Hockey Match

In a thrilling hockey match held at SAIT on October 20, 2023, the SAIT team emerged victorious with a 5-4 win over the University of Albert. The game was filled with intense action and showcased the skills and determination of both teams.

The scoring started in the first period when SAIT's Dylan Clark found the back of the net with assists from Brandon Machado and Zach Cox. SAIT took the lead and maintained it throughout the period.

In the second period, SAIT extended their lead with goals from Tanner Sidaway and McKenzie Welke, both assisted by Ethan Klemen, Wilson Steele, and Kaden Hanas. However, the University of Albert fought back with a short-handed goal from Chase Leslie, assisted by Lane Kirk and Jack Hamly.

SAIT responded with a power-play goal from Zach Cain, assisted by Connor Nolan and Kaden Hanas. The second period ended with SAIT leading 4-1.

The University of Albert made a strong comeback in the third period, scoring three goals. Jaxon Georget, Owen Lamb, and Jacob Biensch all found the back of the net, with assists from Lane Kirk, Jacob Biensch, Chase Leslie, Tavis Roch, and Brayden Koch.

SAIT managed to hold on to their lead with a short-handed goal from Kaden Hanas, assisted by Zach Huber and Andrew MacLean. The game ended with a final score of 5-4 in favor of SAIT.

The three stars of the game were awarded to players from the University of Albert. Lane Kirk, with two assists, was named the first star, while Jacob Biensch, with a goal and an assist, was named the second star. Chase Leslie, with a goal and an assist, was named the third star.

Both teams displayed great skill and determination throughout the game. The University of Albert had a total of 23 shots on goal, while SAIT had 33 shots on goal. The power-play efficiency was 22.2% for the University of Albert and 33.3% for SAIT.

The game lasted for 2 hours and 15 minutes, with no spectators in attendance. The referees for the game were Andrew Lattimer and Chris Lopes, with Josh Maier and Connor Ackroyd serving as linesmen. Evan Li was the timekeeper, and Jordan McKenzie was the scorer.

Overall, the game was a thrilling display of hockey skills and showcased the competitiveness of both teams.
