Briercrest Clippers Quarterfinal Action in Front of Packed Crowd

Caronport, SK (February 27, 2025) - Briercrest Clippers Face Off in Thrilling Quarterfinals at ACAC Men's Basketball Championship Before Packed Crowd
Looking to upset the home team and crowd, the 4th seed Concordia Thunder started the match with a quick 9-0 run, putting the 1st seed Briercrest Clippers on their heels. The Clippers' struggled to see shots fall as Yaadvir Dhaliwal (#7) led the Thunder in a dominant first quarter, ending 26-19 with a 7-point lead.
The Clippers exploded out the gates in the 2nd quarter with an electric alley-oop pass from Jude Shepherd-Hills (#8) to Zach Martens(#21). Three-pointers started to fall for the Clippers, and the Thunder struggled to develop any significant offense against their strong defense. With a well-distributed offense, the Clippers were able to regain a 7-point lead going into halftime, up 46-39.
It was a defensive showing in the third quarter. Shepherd-Hills led the Clippers' offensive effort with a couple of threes, while O'Ryan Wallace and Dhaliwal led the Thunder with some timely buckets. The Thunder came out ahead this quarter, cutting the Clipper's lead to 63-60.
Beginning the fourth quarter was a back-and-forth battle of three-pointers. Dhaliwal and Wallace continued to put pressure on the Clippers from deep, but the Clippers' deep bench came in clutch. Owen Shepherd-Hills (#14) caught fire, hitting three threes in a row to push the Clipper lead beyond the Thunder's grasp. The Thunder's key defensive man, Kyler Dutka (#15) fouled out, setting them back even further. Clippers led by 15 with 5 minutes left, and, though Wallace responded with a couple of deep threes late in the game, the Thunder came up short in their attempt at a comeback.
Player of the game Yaadvir Dhaliwal for Concordia finished the game with a stellar 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. O'Ryan Wallace also had a great game, shooting 5-10 from 3 on 21 points.
The Clippers' offense was a collaborative effort with 6 players in the double digits for points. Their deep bench was able to tire out Concordia's shallow bench, forcing them into a zone defense. The Clippers shot the lights out, being led by the Shepherd-Hills brothers. Owen was an amazing 4-7 from 3, and Jude earned player of the game with an impressive 16-point double-double.
Briercrest advanced to the semifinals with a final score of 93-84 over the Concordia Thunder.
