Day 3: Gold and Silver Medalist Game, SAIT Trojans vs Ambrose University Lions of the 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championships

To wrap up the final game of the 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championships the SAIT Trojans vs the Ambrose University Lions battle for Gold.

Both teams are pumped up and ready to play the game of their lives. The score in the first quarter was rallied between the two teams as they both took turns in the lead. Half way through the quarter, the Trojans hold the lead 12-6. Ambrose calls a quick timeout to find a game plan to maintain a strong defensive zone. SAIT forces the ball out of their zone and sends it to the net with a 2 pointer, but that did not slow down the Lions as they turned around and did the same. Trojans up 23-14 at the end of the first quarter.

Moving into the second quarter, the Trojans tighten up their defensive zone making it more of a challenge for the Lions. The Trojans entered the quarter with impulsion, shooting 3's and 2's which quickly added up on the scoreboard and bringing them ahead 15 points, 41-26. Trojans had more success being able to get baskets throughout this quarter but the Lions are working hard and have taken every chance they can to make a shot. At halftime, 54-32 for the Trojans.

Into the third quarter, the Trojans hold their lead but the Lions are playing strong, deflecting passes shooting threes and avoiding fouls. Both teams are bringing momentum and strong competition onto the court. The Trojans with an advanced lead remained ahead 72-52 at the end of the third quarter.

Entering the final quarter of the 2020 Championships, both teams continue to strategize and maintain their offensive and defensive zones. This quarter the Trojans are bearing down defensively making it a challenge for the Lions to shoot. A timeout is called by the Lions to help re-strategize their play. After entering back into the game with only minutes left on the clock, Lions got called for a few fouls. The Trojans have spread out their team amongst the court which has helped their defensemen send the ball to a forward waiting in the offensive zone to run a layup. With under a minute left on the clock the Trojans remained ahead 88-64 with the advantage of two free throws. The Gold Medalist team of the 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championships went to the SAIT Trojans with a score of 91-69 against Silver Medalists the Ambrose Lions.

The 2020 ACAC Men's Basketball Championship Player of the Game presented by Crystal Nahajowish on behalf of Cargill was awarded to Gold Medalist Trojans player, #1 Charlie Conner and Silver Medalist Lions player, #7 Nhail Phillip.
