ACAC Winter Regional Hosted By NAIT at Avonair Curling Club Jan. 27-29 - DAY 1
The ACAC Curling Winter Regional kicked off today at the Avonair Curling Club in Edmonton, AB with two draws. The regional is hosted by the NAIT Ooks.
On the men's side, the Olds College Broncos got off to a great start with two wins over the host NAIT Ooks and the Lakeland Rustlers. The #1 seeded team entering the regional was the RDC King's and they continued to impress posting a pair of wins over NAIT and the Augustana Vikings to open the Winter Regional 2-0.
The top ranked women's team Concordia Thunder defeated Lakeland 5-2 in their lone Friday game. Host NAIT, RDC, & University of Alberta Augustana also finished the day 1-0 after winning their only games of the first day.
With eight teams competing in the mixed draw, Lakeland and Concordia emerged as the only two undefeated teams, each with a 2-0 record after day #1.
Day #2 will consist of four more draws and begins Saturday at the Avonair Curling Club at 9am. The regional will wrap-up Sunday with two more draws and tie-breakers if necessary.
