2025 ACAC Indoor Track Runners of The Year

Edmonton, AB (March 19, 2025) –
FEMALE INDOOR TRACK RUNNER OF THE YEAR, ASHLEE WALKER:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Ashlee Walker of the Concordia University of Edmonton Thunder has been selected as the 2025 ACAC Women’s Indoor Track Runner of the Year. This is the second time a Concordia athlete has been selected as Women’s Indoor Track Runner of the Year in the history of the ACAC.
Walker has made a powerful statement in her rookie season, quickly becoming a key contributor to the Thunder Indoor Track team. The gifted runner from Sherwood Park, AB, led all female athletes in total points, earning 25 at this year’s ACAC Indoor Track Championships. Her success was driven by an outstanding effort, securing gold medals in the 1000m, 1500m, 4x200m Relay, and 4x400m Relay events throughout the championship weekend. On top of her remarkable performance, she also helped set multiple ACAC and Concordia running records this season, including her team's time of 1:50.25 in the 4 x 200m event at championships.
"Ashlee has been an exceptional athlete to coach, and being named ACAC Player of the Year is a reflection of her relentless drive and commitment,” head coach Matt Norminton commented. “She pushes herself and her teammates to be better every day, and her performances this season have been nothing short of outstanding. This award is a recognition of her talent, work ethic, and competitive spirit. I’m incredibly proud of Ashlee and excited to see what she accomplishes next."
Off the track, Walker is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts at Concordia University of Edmonton. On top of her Player of the Year recognition, she has also received the Women’s Indoor Track Rookie of the Year award for her successful first year in the ACAC.
The ACAC Indoor Track Awards were recognized at the 2025 ACAC Indoor Track Championships presented by Running Room. The championship event was held at the University of Alberta Pavilion from March 15-16.

MALE INDOOR TRACK RUNNER OF THE YEAR, OWEN STEWART:
The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Owen Stewart of the Lethbridge Polytechnic Kodiaks has been selected as the 2025 ACAC Men’s Indoor Track Runner of the Year.
“Owen finished his final year on a high note, pushing through illness to win the 600m, take second in the 1000m, and a hard-fought fifth in the 1500m,” says Kodiaks Head coach, Dr. Simon Schaerz . “A true display of perseverance and commitment to the being a Kodiaks student athlete and his team.”
“What an incredible way to finish his career as a Kodiaks student athlete,” says Todd Caughlin, Kodiaks Athletic and Recreation Services Director. “We have been blessed having Owen commit to the program for the time he has and he has done nothing but truly exemplify what it means and takes to wear the blue.”
Stewart is from Lethbridge and is enrolled in the Business Accounting program.
