Megan Loyns Honoured as 2017-18 ACAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Year

Edmonton,  October 26 , 2017 – The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce that NAIT's Megan Loyns has been selected as the 2017 ACAC women's Player of the Year.  The award is sponsored by the Alberta Soccer Associaion and provides a student-athlete scholarship.

Megan helped lead the NAIT Ooks to a 9-1 regular season record, good enough for a 1st place tie in the North division with the GPRC Wolves. Megan, a 5th year Bachelor of Business Administration student from Saskatoon, SK, emerged as the Ooks true leader this season. She finished with three goals (two of which were game winners), 3 assists and 20 shots.

NAIT Ooks women's soccer head coach Carole Holt could not say enough positive things about her 5th year midfielder.

"Megan has been such a big part of the NAIT Ooks program over the last four seasons. She is a courageous and fierce competitor that always leads by example with her effort and 'team first' attitude each and every day. She has developed into one of the best leaders and players this program has ever seen.

Megan and her NAIT Ooks play this weekend at the 2017 ACAC women's soccer championship hosted at Olds College. The Ooks earned a bye to Saturday's first semi-final where they will face the winner of the quarter-final match between the Medicine Hat Rattlers and the Concordia Thunder. Complete schedule and results can be found on the ACAC website.
