Vanessa Pietramala, Concordia Thunder, Women's Soccer

ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Vanessa Pietramala continued to show her elite talent on the pitch after helping Concordia win the 2024 ACAC Women’s Soccer Championship. Named tournament MVP, Pietramala tallied 1 goal and 2 assists throughout the tournament.

In the semi final game versus Red Deer, Pietramala assisted on the game winning goal to put the Thunder into the final against the SAIT Trojans. In the final, Pietramala continued to produce for her team, assisting on the game tying goal in the 82nd minute and scoring the game winning goal off a high-bouncing ball in the 88th minute to claim a 2-1 lead.

Prior to the start of championships, Pietramala was also awarded the ACAC North Player of the Year. This is the second time she has received the award in her career.

The Concordia Thunder women's soccer team, led by Vanessa, is gearing up for the 2024 CCAA Women's Soccer National Championship hosted by Capilano University in Squamish, BC, scheduled for November 6-9, 2024. In their opening match, the Thunder will face the MSVU Mystics.
