ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Natalie Orellana was a force on the futsal court for the Keyano Huskies. In five games, the Richmond, California, USA product tallied six of her team’s 23 goals on the weekend to lead her side to five wins and a perfect 10-0-0 record in the ACAC Regular Season.

Led by Orellana, the Huskies topped the ACAC North Division and have qualified for the 2024 ACAC Women’s Futsal Championship, held March 8-10 in Lac La Biche, Alta. by Portage College, as the top-seeded team from their division.

"Natalie has become one of our most reliable players on the futsal court and has been a key part of our dominance in this years futsal season,” Head Coach Niels Slotboom said.

Orellana scored in Friday’s 3-1 win over the Eagles from TKU, scored twice in a 3-0 win against the NAIT Ooks, once in a 12-1 win against the Portage College Voyageurs, and twice in a 3-0 win against the Northwestern Polytechnic Wolves. The Huskies also topped the Lakeland College Rustlers 2-1 in their weekend matches.

In her fourth year of eligibility, the Business Administration student-athlete was a part of the 2023 Women’s Futsal Huskies that won the ACAC Championship.
