Women's Volleyball Huskies top Broncos in four to close out regular season

Fort McMurray, Alta. (February 10, 2024) - Olds Broncos 1 Keyano Huskies 3 (26-24, 20-25, 25-20, 25-16)

The Keyano Huskies gave their trio of fifth years a perfect send-off in their final regular season home game, scoring a four-set victory against the visiting Olds College Broncos at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta. Saturday night. 

After the Huskies came from behind to earn the win in the opening set, the Broncos struck back with a set two win to level the score. The Huskies took charge to win the third set before taking the fourth decisevly to earn the victory. 

Karlene Kaminski led the Huskies with 17 kills, besting teammate and senior Megan Polant's 15 kills on the day. Raisa Stokes, another one of the Huskies' seniors, led the team with 16 digs in the match. Erika Box earned 34 assists in the setter role duties on Saturday while Jordi Hazen added six in split duties. Polant's final regular season performance included 10 digs and five aces, primarily helping the Huskies come back in the pivotal first set. 

Lexi Lafreniere, Milan Schapowal, Kristen Pauls and Sarah Merkosky led the Broncos with five kills each in the match. Pauls added four blocks in the match while Dani Bryant had 18 kills to led her side with Merkosky adding 12. Isabel Crashley collected 22 assists from the setter position.
