Lakeland wins in romp against Olds

Friday evening was Food Bank Night at Lakeland, but the Rustlers weren't as charitable on the court.

Austin Dyer's squad came into the matchup with the Olds Broncos having won 14 straight, while the Broncos were coming off a five-set loss to Lethbridge. The first two sets were entirely one-sided, with Lakeland winning 25-7, 25-9, before making several lineup changes. Olds served more aggressively in the third, but it wasn't enough, as the Rustlers took the third 25-19.

Jana Laing won Player of the match for Lakeland, posting 25 assists, 6 digs and 4 service aces. The latter stat moves her three ahead of Rae Sigurdson for fourth all time in Rustlers women's volleyball history, as well as 27th all time in ACAC history. Her assists total leave her third all time in the ACAC, behind only Sigurdson at Lakeland.

The Rustlers now face the SAIT Trojans in the regular season finale on Saturday. Laing and Kaylie Lueck will play their final home matches at Lakeland.
