Women's Volleyball Trojans top Huskies in Fort McMurray

Fort McMurray, Alta. (February 9, 2024) - SAIT Trojans 3 Keyano Huskies 0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-18)

The SAIT Trojans Women's Volleyball team came to play Friday at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre in Fort McMurray, Alta., topping the host Keyano Huskies in straight sets.

After charging ahead to fend off a Huskies attack in the first set, the two teams played a closer second set, which the Trojans were able to edge out a victory in. The Trojans then took charge in the third set to capture the victory. 

LeeAnne Arnott led the visiting Trojans with nine kills, one ahead of teammate Shadae Black. Grace Florence earned 19 assists while handling setting duties for the Trojans and Emileigh Inglis led her side with six digs. Arnott also added a pair of blocks in the victory. Payton Van Driesten led players from both sides with three aces in the match. 

Megan Polant led the host Huskies with 12 kills, four ahead of Karlene Kaminski's eight, which placed her second. Jordi Hazen collected 12 assists in the setter position Friday while Raisa Stokes added nine more digs to her all-time total. 

The Trojans will venture back down south to take on the Lakeland Ruslters while the Huskies play host to the Olds College Broncos Saturday.
