Friday nights action saw the visiting Kings Eagles take on the NAIT Ooks. The match started with the Eagles getting out to an early 8-3 lead with multiple kills coming from #7 Brooke Risselada. The Ooks were able to rally their way back into the set with some defensive plays from #2 Makenna Doyle and #6 Charlotte Vandenelzen resulting in them cutting the lead to 1 midway through the set. On her senior night, #3 Anika Dyck was able to tally numerous digs in the first set to help keep the Ooks in striking distance. Ooks were finally able to tie it up at 22 with a kill from #6 Charlotte Vandenelzen. The Eagles were able to withstand the Ooks comeback, taking the first set 26-24.

 

The Eagles lead 1-0.

 

The second set saw the Ooks get out to the early lead this time. A 6-1 lead forced the Eagles to call an early timeout. The Ooks continued to roll by increasing their lead to 7. The Eagles were able to settle into the set cutting the lead to 2 mid-way through the set. The Ooks kept the pressure on leading throughout the majority of the set until both teams started trading points until the score was knotted at 21. The Eagles were able to rally late taking the second set 25-23.

 

The Eagles lead 2-0.

 

The third set saw both teams continue to trade points early, as neither team was able to grab an early lead as seen in the first 2 sets. The Ooks tried to gain control of the set with from more digs by #3 Anika Dyck and kills by #11 Anna Atcheynum and #12 Tanisha McQueen but the Eagles kept fighting back with impressive plays by #17 MacKenie Bruce and #13 Chenee Lehamn. Neither team was able to gain more than a 3-point advantage in this set, making the action on the court quite entertaining. The Eagles were able to pull away late taking the third set and the victory.

 

The Eagles won 3-0.
