Rustlers Sweep Ooks at Home

The NAIT Ooks hosted the Lakeland Rustlers on Friday night at the NAIT Gymnasium. The near sold out crowd was thrilled to see a great night of volleyball.

The first set was neck and neck with the Ooks managing to hold their own with great plays the team. However, it wasn't long before Rustler's offensive had gained momentum that left the Ooks struggling to keep up. Ooks struggled to defend against the Rustlers outside hits from Avery Bates.

The first set ended 25-18 for the Rustlers.

In the second set, Ooks continued to struggle against the Rustlers incredible offensive hits. However, the Ooks defensive blocks from Anna Atcheynum seemed to be keeping the Ooks afloat. The Ooks offence struggled to generate anything, and head coach Erminia Thorpe called a timeout in hopes to regroup and shift their momentum.

Nonetheless, Rustlers took the set 25-9

In the third set the Ooks seemed to be holding their own with great defensive blocks from Tanisha McQueen and with outside hits from Hannah McLaughlin, they had even managed to take the lead. But it was short lived as the Ooks defensive errors had begun to pile up. The Rustlers offence had begun to gain momentum again and began to pull ahead yet again with their huge blocks from Avery Bates. The team defense from the Rustlers effectively left the Ooks behind, winning the set 25-16 sweeping the match 3-0.
