Lions Beat Broncos in Thrilling 5 Set Match

Olds College travels to the Ambrose Lions on Friday night. In a thrilling 5-set match where the Lions beat the Broncos in a tight game.

The Ambrose Lions took an early lead in the match, claiming the first set with a score of 25-19. Olds College responded with determination in the second set, showcasing their skills and turning the tables with a 25-20 victory.  Ambrose University regained momentum in the third set, displaying a powerful performance to win 25-15. Their well-coordinated attacks and solid defense created challenges for Olds College, giving Ambrose a 2-1 set lead. Olds College fought back in the fourth set, demonstrating exceptional teamwork and resilience. They secured a 25-22 win, setting the stage for a decisive fifth set as both teams aimed for victory. The final set was a true battle, with both teams leaving everything on the court. In the end, Ambrose University edged out Olds College with a 15-9 victory, securing the overall match win in a closely contested fifth set.

5 Sarah Merkosky ended up with 10 kills for the match and Dani Bryant had a great defence for the Broncos with 16 digs. The lions were very well rounded with Willow Lewington and Lauren Huntely each with 13 kills and Elise Wager with 16 kills.

Both teams will play each other the following Saturday night.
