Thunder edge Huskies in five-set thriller

Fort McMurray, Alta. (October 27, 2023) - Concordia Thunder 3 at Keyano Huskies 2 (22-25, 25-22, 24-26, 25-23, 17-15)

The Concordia Thunder and Keyano Huskies went beyond the limit of a normal volleyball game Friday in night in Fort McMurray with the Thunder coming out ahead. 

A five-set win pushed the Thunder into the win column for the second time this season while the Huskies moved to 0-5 on the year. 

Tanisha Cronin led the Thunder with eight kills on the day while Jenna May contributed 17 assists in setter duties for the visiting Thunder. 

Megan Polant led the Huskies with 17 kills, four ahead fo teammate Karlene Kaminski's 13. 

The home side claimed the opening set, but the Thunder came back to win set two. After the Huskies claimed a tight 26-24 set win to go up 2-1, the Thunder came roaring back to take the next two sets in the come-from behind victory. 

The two sides are scheduled for a 1:00 p.m. rematch at the Syncrude Sport & Wellness Centre Saturday afternoon.
