NWP Wolves host UAA Vikings
NWP Wolves start with first serve to open their home opener vs. Augustana Vikings in the Wolves Den. Vikings take first point, but the NWP Wolves answer back with a perfect touch from #10 Katie Nashim. A couple back to back points secured by Wolves #12 Sarah Soderstrom makes the crowds go wild. Points go back and forth, and NWP Wolves call the first time out – Vikings lead 16-12. Serve returns to the Wolves after the time-out, but falls short giving it back to the Vikings. #10 Katie Nashim smashes it down for the Wolves. Putting up the wall, #12 Sarah Soderstrom secures a point for the Wolves. Vikings still lead 20-15. Vikings keep the pressure on the Wolves with strong defensive blocking. A strong kill from Vikings #20 Addi Wolosuk gives the lead to UAA. Vikings takes the first set 25-18
Second set the Vikings take the lead. Coach Lauren Hale Miller calls a timeout for NWP when the score reaches 6-1 for UAA. Vikings #18 Sarah Singular comes up with another big kill. Back-to-back aces for Vikings #20 Addi Wolosuk brings the score to 10-4 for UAA. NWP battle hard but struggle to break the lead gained by UAA. Score is 16-6 for the Vikings. Vikings continue to work in unison to pull away from NWP. Vikings take the second set 25-11.
Third set the Vikings take a 6 point lead. Strong kill from Vikings #10 Emily Peterson. Another kill for Vikings #20 Addi Wolosuk who has had a strong game against the Wolves. NWP's #11 Evangeline Zeyha comes up with a huge kill for the Wolves. She's rises to the occasion again with back to back kills to keep the Wolves in the game. Wolves find their rhythm and gain a quick 5 points, Vikings call a time out. Score is 14-8 for the Vikings. NWP's #12 Sarah Soderstrom comes up with a huge block. Wolves put the pressure on to tighten the scoring gap. NWP's #12 comes up again with a big kill to keep the Wolves in it. Despite NWP's best efforts Vikings take the 3rd set 25 to 16.
