Thunder Strike First But Ultimately Fall to Vikings

EDMONTON, AB (February 5, 2022) - The Concordia University of Edmonton (CUE) Thunder continue their weekend series by welcoming the Augustana Vikings Saturday night. After a back and forth affair early on, the Augustana Vikings take the match 3-1. 

Both teams came out strong from the start and took points back and forth between the two. The Thunder found their momentum and took the first set 25-23. The second set brought push back from the Vikings as they took over and proved to be too much for the Thunder, taking the set 25-19. The third set brought another nail biter of a set as the points went back and forth between the two. In the end, the Vikings found their ground and took the set 25-20. Thunder came back strong, taking early points until it became another back and forth affair between the teams. The Vikings found their momentum and took the fourth and final set 25-22. 

After the game head coach Dione Lang commented, "It was a hard fought battle all game. Augustana pushed back after the first set and we just didn't have enough today to fight back."

The One Team Sports players of the game were #5 Sarah Dedrick for the Augustana Vikings and #13 Kara McInttyre for Concordia Thunder. 

The Thunder return to action next weekend when they welcome the Lakeland Rustlers to a home game Friday, February 11th.
