Trojans fall in three to Queens

CALGARY, ALTA., (Nov. 30, 2019) - The end of a tough semester can't come soon enough for the SAIT Trojans women's volleyball team.

In the penultimate game of the first half, the Trojans were handed their eighth straight loss, falling 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-18) to the visiting Red Deer College Queens in their Saturday night Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) game played at SAIT.

"We need to get healthier, and we need to build confidence," said Trojans head coach Art O'Dwyer. "Tonight, we were really flat and they played really well. To give them some credit, they did some things we couldn't handle."

The Trojans fall to 2-11 on the season. Red Deer improved to 11-2 with the win.

"The positives out of this was some of the kids came off the bench and played well and showed some grit," O'Dwyer added. "That was good to see, and hopefully we can build off of it in January."

Rookie Leah Serlin (1st year, Vancouver, BC, Nutrition for Healthy Lifestyles) led the Trojans with four kills.

Emma Holmes led the Queens with 12 kills.

The Trojans will play their final game of 2019 on Wednesday, Dec. 4 when they host the Ambrose University Lions at 6pm.
