Keyano Huskies Defeat Red Deer Queens in ACAC Soccer Provincials

Edmonton, AB - Game two of the ACAC Soccer Championships got off to an electrifying start as the Keyano College Huskies faced off against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens. The match was a rollercoaster from the beginning, with a goal within the first minute, setting the tone for the thrilling contest. In the end, the Huskies dominated and secured an impressive 6-1 victory.

The game kicked off with an exciting first minute as the Keyano keeper gave away the ball, allowing the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens' number 10 to seize the opportunity and score. However, just a minute later, the Huskies answered with a goal from number 13, leveling the score at 1-1. This intense start created a palpable tension in the Scottish Dome, with the echoes of fans and coaches pulsating through the air.

In the 16th minute, the Queens had a golden opportunity to take the lead, but a spectacular diving save by the Keyano keeper maintained the tie at 1-1. Both teams then shifted towards a more defensive approach, emphasizing crisp passing and well-coached soccer. In the 35th minute, a foul on Keyano resulted in a penalty kick, successfully converted to put the Huskies ahead 2-1 at halftime.

Just two minutes into the second half, Keyano extended their lead as number nine, Felicia Rodney, found the back of the net. As the second half progressed, tensions continued to rise, with the Queens trailing by two goals. The Huskies displayed exceptional play, which seemed to overwhelm their opponents.

A moment of brilliance for the Queen's keeper occurred in the 64th minute when she made a fantastic diving stop to deny a well-struck shot. The Huskies' Felicia Rodney (#9) added two more goals in the 77th and 80th minutes, making it 4-1 and then 5-1, respectively.

From that point, Keyano assumed complete control of the game and didn't look back, securing a commanding 6-1 victory. The Huskies are emerging as early contenders for the championship.
