SAIT Trojans Headed to ACAC Semi-Final Game

EDMONTON, AB (October 26, 2023) - SAIT Trojans vs. NAIT Ooks - ACAC Championship Quarter Final

In a highly anticipated ACAC Championship quarter-final clash, the SAIT Trojans emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over the NAIT Ooks. The game, held at the Edmonton Soccer Dome on October 26, 2023, was a thrilling showdown that saw both teams exhibit their prowess on the soccer field.

The Trojans wasted no time making their mark in the match, with #13 Nicole Charlton opening the scoring in the 20th minute. Her precise strike put the Trojans ahead early, setting the tone for an exciting encounter.

Six minutes later, in the 26th minute, #22 Olivia DePasquale capitalized on an opportunity, assisted by the ever-effective #13 Charlton once again. DePasquale's goal extended the Trojans' lead to 2-0, leaving NAIT with a mountain to climb.

The Trojans continued their offensive assault, with #9 Meaghan Wiebe finding the back of the net in the 28th minute, courtesy of a well-executed play orchestrated by #7 Miriam Kabonesa. SAIT was now comfortably in the lead at 3-0, showcasing their offensive prowess.

NAIT, however, demonstrated their resilience, and in the 40th minute, #10 Payton Boyne managed to break through SAIT's defense and score a goal for the Ooks. This effort put NAIT on the scoreboard, giving them a glimmer of hope.

As the game progressed, NAIT had a second goal late in the second half, but it was disallowed due to an offside call. This turn of events kept the score at 3-1 in favor of the Trojans, ultimately determining the final outcome of the match. SAIT moves on to play the Concordia Thunder on Friday, October 27th, at 10 AM in the ACAC Semi-Final.
