Broncos bounce Lions in season finale

The Olds College Broncos wrapped up their 2023 season on a high, defeating the Ambrose University Lions 8-0 at Richardson Pioneer Field on Sunday as both teams saw their seasons come to an end.

Player of the game Tiona Paton scored five goals for the Broncos (5-7), while Mikayla Cashato, Jessie Kurek and Kassidy Kelly also scored for Olds College; Kaia Galuska only needed to make one save for the clean sheet.

Joy Watson made six saves in a losing effort for the Lions (0-12), while Gracey Nicol picked up player of the game honours.

Paton posted a natural hat trick in the first half as she scored in the ninth, 37th and 44 minutes to give the Broncos a 3-0 lead at halftime. Kelly kept the momentum going in the 55th minute off a free kick to extend the advantage to 4-0 before Cashato scored her first ACAC goal in the 64th minute. Kurek then converted from the penalty spot in the 74th minute before Paton finished off the scoring with similar runs down the right side and scoring in the 80th and 86th minutes.
