Lakeland ties Ooks in final home game

Lakeland ties Ooks in final home game

The Rustlers came back in the second half, but couldn't push past a tie with the team sitting one spot ahead in the playoff chase.

Lakeland was looking for a win to tie the Ooks in the standings and have a shot at making the postseason this fall. In the first half, the home side fell behind on a penalty given to the Ooks, who lead 1-0 at the half.

From there, the Rustlers started put pressure back on the Ooks, tying the game on a goal from Sidney Blechinger 13 minutes into the second half. From there, both teams had close calls that could have broken the 1-1, but neither capitalized.

Sarah Mandeville (who assisted Blechinger's tally) and Sadie Low were the POG's.

Next up for the Rustlers is a road trip to Fort McMurray, where they take on the Keyano Huskies. The Rustlers need at least a win and more to leapfrog NAIT and finish third in the North Division, which would secure a playoff spot.
