Rattlers Take 3 Points from Vikings

Rattlers Take 3 Points from Vikings

The Rattlers women's soccer team played host the Augustana Vikings on what was a perfect afternoon for some footy. The Rattlers came out on the front foot dominating in possession and in scoring chances. Numerous of those chances came and went for the Rattlers but were still left off the scoresheet. With a minute remaining in the first half the Rattlers would be awarded a penalty kick. Maísa Rebello would step up to take the kick but would hit the crossbar and have it be cleared away by the Vikings. The half would finish 0-0.

The second half was more of the same with the Rattlers controlling the play for the vast majority of the half. 15 minutes into the half the Rattlers would awarded another free kick and up stepped Kaylei Hole to take the kick. A great save by Vikings keeper Sofia Ovcharenko diving to her right would keep the score knotted nil-nil. In the 64th minute the Rattlers would get their lead on a goal by Keandra Leslie after a fumbled ball between the keeper and a Viking defender allowed Leslie to get behind in behind and put it into the open net. More relentless pressure by the Rattlers would result in yet another penalty kick for the Rattlers. Up stepped Keandra Leslie to take the kick but, again, Sofia Ovcharenko was up to the task and made yet another great penalty kick save. That would be the end of the chances as the Rattlers come away with the 1-0 win.

The Rattlers Player of the Game was Alivia Rybchinski & for the Vikings was Sofia Ovcharenko. MHC improves to 4-5-1 and will host SAIT next Saturday and then travel to Lethbridge on Sunday. Meanwhile the Vikings finish their season with a game at home against the Kodiaks.
