SAIT takes the win over MHC

The SAIT Trojan's Women's Soccer Team defended their home turf against Medicine Hat College on Saturday, winning their game 2-0. The Trojans were in control from start to finish, outshooting the Rattlers 23 to 6 and never taking their foot off the gas. With the win, the Trojans stayed undefeated and improved their record to 5-0.

SAIT started the game hungry, narrowly missing multiple scoring chances before #3 Amy Fallows finally broke through in the 37th minute to give the Trojans a 1-0 lead, with #22 Olivia DePasquale providing the assist on the first goal. SAIT continued to press, wanting to add to their lead by the half, but couldn't bury another as the game went into halftime with SAIT up 1.

Knowing a 1-0 lead isn't comfortable, the team came out of halftime firing on all cylinders, putting relentless pressure on Medicine Hat until #10 Isabel Vega scored the 2-0 goal in the 49th minute, just 4 minutes out of the half. The goal was assisted by #9 Meaghan Wiebe, who had an incredible game ending with 7 shots and an assist.

Medicine Hat knew they had to respond quickly, but SAIT shut them down the rest of the way by playing phenomenal defense and countering well. Goalkeeper Erin Mergen was perfect, making sure none of MHC's 6 shots ended up in the back of the net. Even as the Rattlers were desperately selling out for offence, the Trojans outshot them in the second half. When it was all said and done, SAIT came out with a statement 2-0 win.

The Trojans will look to keep their undefeated streak going next Saturday up against Lethbridge College, who they beat 1-0 in their previous meeting last season.
