After a hard fought Home Opener, Lions Fall to Rattlers

Calgary, AB - In an eagerly awaited Women's soccer home opener, the Ambrose Lions faced off against the Medicine Hat Rattlers. Though the final score favored the Rattlers with a 4-0 victory, the Lions' performance showed great promise and determination.

The game began with both teams exhibiting skill and determination, thrilling the passionate crowd gathered at Rundle College Field for the home opener. The Lions, driven by their home support, displayed commendable teamwork and resilience. Throughout the first half, they tirelessly pressed forward, aiming to seize an early lead. While the Rattlers managed to score one goal (#10 Kendra Leslie) in this half, the Lions' defense displayed admirable resolve, denying several goal-scoring opportunities.

As the second half commenced, the Lions continued to fight valiantly. Despite trailing by one goal, they maintained their focus and spirit. Their midfields showcased exceptional ball control and creative passing, consistently putting pressure on the Rattlers' defense.

However, the Medicine Hat Rattlers found their stride in the second half, netting three additional goals. ( #17 Maisa Rebello, #23 Molly Morris, #17 Maisa Rebello) While the scoreline may not reflect the Lions' efforts, they never wavered in their commitment to the game. Their goalkeeper made several remarkable saves (10), preventing further goals from the Rattlers.

The players of the game were #17, Maisa Rebello and for the Lions was #13, Kate Siemens. Although the final score favored the Medicine Hat Rattlers at 4-0, the Ambrose Lions left the field with their heads held high. Their unwavering determination and teamwork demonstrated immense potential for the season ahead. 

The lions look forward to playing the Lethbridge College Kodiaks on Sunday at 12pm.
