Thunder defeat Broncos 3-0, advance to semis

SHERWOOD PARK, Alta. – The Concordia Thunder defeated the Olds College Broncos 3-0 in quarter-final action of the 2019 ACAC Women's Soccer Championship.

In a game where the wind was a huge factor, both teams battled the elements the entire duration of the match. Rebecca Leavell struck first in the 25th minute with a beautiful drop-kick to put the Concordia Thunder up 1-0.

The Thunder took control of the game in the second half as Breanna Callandar and Madison Gamache each scored on goals where they battled for position with the Olds keeper Jewels Hallock. In the end, the Thunder were just too strong for the Broncos as they won 3-0.

"In conditions like this, you have to keep it simple," said Thunder head coach Franco Imbrogno. "we started a little slow, but then we started making plays and playing our game which converted to a win."

Concordia will now take on the #1 seed Lethbridge College Kodiaks tomorrow at 1:30 pm.
