Ooks Win ACAC Championship at Home

Tonight's game saw the visiting Lakeland Rustlers take on the NAIT Ooks in Game 4 of the ACAC finals. After picking up a win to save their season last night, the Rustlers were looking to do the same tonight to force a Game 5. The Ooks on the other hand, were looking to pick up the final win needed to claim the championship trophy. The Ooks were able to throw the first punch of the night, scoring on the powerplay. The Ooks goal was scored by #18 Bre Martin with the assists coming from #27 Cassidy Shandro and #24 Cheyenna Harden. Bre Martin wasn't finished for the period as just minutes later, she was able to net her 2nd goal of the period off another assist from Cassidy Shandro, giving the Ooks a 2-0 after 20-minutes.

The Ooks lead 2-0 after the 1st period.

The Rustlers came out of the locker room, looking to cut the lead in half to keep themselves in the game. Ooks goalie #29 Kaitlyn Slator was able to keep the door shut making amazing saves throughout the period. The Rustlers best chance to score came on the powerplay, but they had nothing to show for it on the scoreboard. After a frenzy of shots by the Rustlers in the final 5-minutes of the period, the Ooks were able to maintain their 2-goal lead heading into the locker room.

The Ooks lead 2-0 after the 2nd period.

The thrid and final period of ACAC Women's Hockey this season saw both goalies make exceptional saves and keep the game within two. After various chances the Rustlers pulled their goalie for almost the last 3 minutes of play.  Despite the extra player the Ooks held strong. After 60 minutes of play and a bitter second place last season, the Ooks won the 2024 ACAC Women's Hockey Championship!
