Ooks Pull Ahead in ACAC Final Series

Saturday night's game saw the visiting Lakeland Rustlers take on the NAIT Ooks in Game 2 of the ACAC Championship. After picking up a huge road victory last night, the Ooks were looking to gain control of this best-of-5 series after the first weekend of games. The first period saw the Ooks come out flying with 10 shots in the first half of the period, trying to gain an early advantage. Rustlers keeper #31 Mackenzie Dojahn was able to make some great early saves to keep it scoreless. The game's first goal came with just under 7 minutes left in the period by Rustlers #11 Kylie Perry to give them a 1-0 lead. #21 Alyssa Shaw was able to gain an assist on the game's opening goal. After a very physical first period which saw both teams have multiple penalties, the Rustlers went into the dressing room with the lead.

The Ooks came out of the dressing room very aggressively and were able to tie the game up within the first 5-minutes. The Ooks goal was scored by #11 Grace Morton with the assists coming from #13 Hanna Paquette and #2 Kamryn Aebly. The Rustlers were able to quickly regain their lead off of an impressive 2-on-1 break which saw #7 Mackenzie Stafford net one in off a beautiful pass from #6 Calla Kampen. Both teams battled hard to score another goal before the period ended, but both keepers were able to close the door.

The Ooks started the period super aggressive as they were desperately trying to tie the game up. The Ooks were able to get the game-tying goal just 6 minutes into the period thanks to #16 Michaella Kibblewhite. The assists on the goal came from #8 Tayler Premak and #23 Julianne Crozier. The Ooks didn't stop there. Just minutes later they were able to score another one giving them their first lead of the game. The goal was scored by #24 Cheyenna Harden with assists by #8 Tayler Premak and #16 Michaella Kibblewhite. After a relentless attack by the Rustlers in the final 5-minutes, the Ooks were able to hold on and come away with a victory to give them a commanding 2-0 series lead, heading back to Lakeland for Game 3 next Friday night.
