2024 ACAC Women's Hockey Playoff MVP

EDMONTON, AB - The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) is pleased to announce Kaitlyn Slator of the NAIT Ooks has been selected as the 2024 ACAC Women’s Hockey Playoff Most Valuable Player.  

Kaitlyn Slator has left an indelible mark on the league in her fifth and final season as a NAIT Ook. Her journey to greatness this season has been nothing short of legendary. She broke the ACAC all-time wins record, became the ACAC all-time minutes played leader, and is tied for the ACAC shutout record.

In the heat of the semi-finals, Slator faced an astonishing 75 shots across three grueling games. Undeterred by the onslaught, she rose to the occasion in games two and three, withstanding 54 shots and conceding only one goal, leading her team to a shutout victory in game three against the Red Deer Polytechnic Queens, securing a spot in the finals.

The finals were a true test of skill and resilience, with Slator facing an impressive 109 shots over the course of the intense four-game series. In a defining moment of brilliance, she delivered yet another shutout masterpiece in game four, thwarting 27 shots and guiding the Ooks to a triumphant 2-0 victory, clinching the championship banner in an unforgettable fashion.

Kaitlyn Slator's unwavering dedication, unmatched skill, and ability to shine under pressure have not only etched her name in ACAC history but also serve as an inspiration to aspiring athletes everywhere.

"Kaitlyn was exceptional throughout both rounds of the playoffs and made key saves at crucial times for us which was key to us winning the championship," said Head Coach Brendan Jensen. 

The fifth-year student-athlete from Brandon, Manitoba, in the Magnetics Resonance Imaging Program, has been a pillar for the Ooks since she began.
