Eleven different point getters spread the offence in a victory for Lakeland

The Lakeland College Apex Automation Rustlers and SAIT Trojans tangled in game two of their three-game weekend tripleheader on Saturday, February 3rd in Lloydminster. The Rustlers were looking to extend their winning streak while the Trojans were hoping to rebound from a 2-0 loss on Friday evening to Lakeland. Lakeland would score three quick goals in period one and skate to a 6-1 victory. 

The Rustlers came out aggressive and hard on the forecheck scoring three quick goals in nine minutes in period 1. Keyra Buziak got things rolling with a wrist shot from the top of the circle to beat Trojans goalie Chelsea West. Assists would go to Madelyn Mann and Belle Smith. Kylie Perry would add a power-play goal with 6:14 left in period one. Assists would be drawn by Ava Cole and Belle Smith to double the Rustler's lead. Hailey Carothers would finish things off, scoring on a nice chip pass from Darby Robertson with Paris Appel drawing a secondary assist. Shots on goal would end up being 13-3 for Lakeland and they would go into the intermission up 3-0.

The second period would see several penalties called on both sides with Lakeland taking two minors and SAIT drawing three penalties. On the third penalty, Lakeland would cash in on the man advantage. Claudia Lammers would bank a shot off the left skate of Chelsea West. Assists on the power play goal would go to Ava Cole and Calla Kampen. The Rustlers would again lead on the shot clock, outshooting the Trojans 14-5 and 27-8 overall after two periods.

The third period started with a bang for the Rustlers as they added two more goals. Claudia Lammers scored her second game on a great pass from the point by Keyra Buziak. Ella Wingert would draw an assist on the goal. Just over one minute later, Paris Appel would finish a great passing play by her linemates, Hailey Carothers and Darby Robertson. The Trojans would break the shutout bid for Mackenzie Dojahn as Pyper Alexander broke in on a breakaway and went top shelf to make the final 6-1. Shots on goal were 11-6 in period three. Players of the game were Alex Baumbach for SAIT and Calla Kampen for Lakeland.
