Ooks Beat Broncos at Home

Friday night's action saw the visiting Olds Broncos take on The NAIT Ooks. An early powerplay for the Broncos hoped to get them on the scoreboard early, but the defence of the Ooks was able to control the puck for the majority of the time. Both of the teams struggled to get any momentum going in the first half of the period as there was only seven combined shots on goal. The second half of the period saw the Ooks start to take control of the puck. The majority of the last ten minutes saw them on the attack looking for the game's first goal. Unfortunately for them, they were not able to get anything by the Broncos goalie #35 Lacey Friesen who made 15 saves in the opening frame.

The score after the 1st period was 0-0.

The second period saw the Ooks keep their foot on the gas. An early powerplay saw them have numerous opportunities around the net to score. Keeping the pressure up #16 Michaella Kibblewhite was finally able to get one pace the Broncos keeper to get the game's first goal on the board. The assists for the Ooks came from #8 Tayler Premak and #11 Grace Morton. The Broncos had a golden chance to tie the game up with back-to-back-to-back penalties by the Ooks. Although, they had several chances around the net, Ooks keeper #31 Aurora Van Wormer was able to keep the door shut. After killing off three Bronco powerplays, the Ooks were able to increase their lead with a goal from #27 Cassidy Shandro with assists coming from #16 Michaella Kibblewhite and #22 Payton Basterash.

The score after the 2nd period was 2-0 for the Ooks.

The third period saw the Broncos applying pressure early attempting to cut the lead in half. An early penalty killed their attack coming out of the locker room. The Broncos attempted to swing the momentum in their direction, but the Ooks continued to win the battle in the neutral zone. After pulling the goalie, the Broncos were finally able to put one on the board. The goal was scored #15 Tessa Knisely with the assists coming from #9 Klara Mattey and #20 Maeve Van't Klooster. The Ooks were able to weather the final storm from the Broncos, adding an empty netter resulting in them coming away with the victory. The goal was scored by #16 Michaella Kibblewhite with the assists coming from #8 Tayler Premak.

The final score was 3-1 for the Ooks.
