Ooks Win as Slator Takes All-Time ACAC Win Record

Tonight's action saw the SAIT Trojans visit the NAIT Ooks for the second night of their double header. Both teams had scoring chances early in the game but were unable to capitalize. The Ooks continued to apply pressure with shots from #18 Bre Martin and #24 Cheyenna Harden throughout the period. After 17 shots through the first 14 minutes, #5 Hannah Prinsen from the Ooks was able to put one past the Trojans keeper. A late turnover in their own zone, forced the Ooks goalie #29 Kaitlyn Slator to make a big save right in front of the net.

The Ooks lead 1-0 after the first period.

After making 21 saves in the first period, Trojans keeper #33 Chelsea West continued to weather the array of shots from the Ooks to start the second period. The Ooks kept pouring on the shots throughout the first half of the period. The Trojans hoped to tie the score up off back-to-back Ooks penalty but were unsuccessful with the man advantage. With a four-minute powerplay for the Ooks, they had many more chances to score with shots from #5 Hannah Prinsen and #24 Cheyenna Harden. The score remained the same after another 20 minutes.

The Ooks lead 1-0 after the second period.

The third period saw the Ooks strike early with a goal from #18 Bre Martin with assists coming from #4 Jessica Engelbrecht and #5 Hannah Prinsen. The Trojans tried to battle back with some attacks from #6 Pyper Alexander but couldn't get the puck past the Ooks keep #29 Kaitlyn Slator. With a loose puck in the neutral zone, #13 Hanna Paquette from the Ooks got a beautiful breakaway coming out of the penalty box but Trojans goalie #33 Chelsea West was able to make another amazing save. With just over half the period gone, the Ooks were able to put another one past the Trojans. The goal was scored by #2 Kamryn Aebly with assists coming from #8 Tayler Premak and #28 Halle Graham. The Ooks were not done yet. They were able to add another late goal from #26 Sidney Kobi with assists from #6 Grace Flanagan and #12 sawyer Norman.

The Ooks were able to come away with a 4-0 victory sweeping the double header.

With this win, NAIT Ooks goalie Kaitlyn Slator becomes the all-time ACAC wins leader with 47.
