Ooks Dominate Broncos

The NAIT Ooks women's hockey team faced off Friday night against the visiting Olds College Broncos in the Nest. Ooks won the game 4-0. 

The first period between the Ooks and Broncos was scoreless. Both goalies, Kaitlyn Slator and Cienna Kinghorn, stood firm in the net. The Ooks had lots of offensive pressure on the Broncos' defence but came up short. After the first twenty minutes, the score was 0-0, and the Ooks led 15-6 for shots on the net. 

During the second period, the Ooks were the first to strike, with Kienna Higgs scoring, assisted by Bre Martin and Maddy Rutz. While the Ooks were on the power play, Hannah Prinsen put it away with the assist going to Cheyenna Harden. The Ooks led 2-0, outshooting the Broncos 36-10.

The Broncos' came out after the second intermission looking to even the score. The third period had a lot of back-and-forth play between the Ooks and Broncos. Both teams had their share of chances. Late into the period, the Ooks extended their lead with Cassidy Shandro scoring, assisted by Prinsen and Sidney Kobi. Seconds later, the Ooks' Martin scored, assisted by Grace Morton and Hailey Cruikshank. The Ooks won the game 4-0. Ooks goalie Kaitlyn Slator also tied the ACAC all-time win record with 44 wins.
